Typically, the face and the back of a monument are polished, smooth and shiny. You have the option of leaving the edges and top as a natural rough finish, or having these polished as well.

We use two different techniques for adding lettering and graphics to the granite stone: sandblasting and laser etching.
Sandblasting is suitable for granite of all colors. Sandblasting is a process where we use high air pressure and force sand through a nozzle to carve the design and lettering on the memorial.
Laser etching can be used for both lettering and graphics. The detail of lasering allows us to incorporate almost any graphic into the design of your monument. Laser etching can be done on black granite only.

Photos can be added to monuments in two ways:
- Option 1: Photos and images can be etched on the surface of the monument using laser technology. This option is available on black granite only and the image will appear black and white. A good quality photograph in its original form is required for the best results.
- Option 2: A quality ceramic portrait can be attached to the monument. Available in color or black and white, the portrait is permanently coated onto a ceramic disc using high temperatures to ensure image permanence. The portrait is guaranteed against breakage, fading, or deterioration of any kind, including vandalism through the manufacturer. You can choose between 16 different shapes and sizes so you are sure to find one that fits with the style and size of your chosen monument.

A monument can be personalized to reflect the personality of your loved one. Family heritage, life’s accomplishments, interests and hobbies, character, or faith can all be incorporated into the design of the monument. This can be done using images and words. If you cannot find a suitable design in our catalog, our design specialists can also create a custom design for you that will reflect your loved one’s unique personality.
