Obituary For Winnie M. Brenton

It is with great sorrow that the family of the late Winnie M. Brenton announces her peaceful passing on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the age of 76 at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital.

Winnie was born in St. Anthony, NL, and raised in St. Anthony right until the age of nine when she moved to St. Anthony, NL with her family. She later fell in love with Wayne and they married on May 30, 1970, settling in Pasadena, NL, where they raised three children. In 2018, they moved to Grande Prairie, AB, to be close to family. Winnie loved her family more than life itself. She spent countless hours in her kitchen cooking and baking her favourite recipes. You could always count on a sweet in the house for company to enjoy.

She became a Christian at the early age of eight and grew into a devout Salvationist whose life was a living testimony of her love for her Saviour. In the later years of her faith, she often spoke of the day she would join her parents and siblings in Heaven.

Celebrating Winnie’s life are her husband, Wayne, of 55 years; sons Lorne (Carolann) and Brian (Lydia); daughter Suzin Kelly (Gary); sister Edna Kinsella; grandchildren Jordan (Stacey), Kirk (Tristan), Seamus, Mahone and Braylen; great-granddaughter Libby; as well as a large circle of family and friends.

She was predeceased by parents Stewart and Beulah Pilgrim; brothers Melvin and Warrick; and sisters Rita and Nina.

Cremation has taken place and a date for Winnie’s memorial service is to be determined.

The family would also like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Grande Prairie Regional Hospital for their care and compassion.

    So sorry to hear of Winnie's passing. A cousin, and next door neighbour when we lived and worked for The Salvation Army in Pasadena so many years ago. I was a young mother, and Winnie was always there to lend a helping hand. She will be missed, but never forgotten. Wayne, Lorne, Brian, and Suzin, you are in our thoughts and prayers. Any 'stragglers' that Wayne or Lorne brought home were treated so kindly that we kept coming back for more!!
