Obituary For William Frances Sheridan
William Frances Sheridan, born in Blaine, Washington on July 3, 1925, passed away at his home on October 31, 2003.
William (Bill) was born in Blaine, Washington, USA and shortly after moved to Canada and lived here for the rest of his life. He resided with his parents, Basil Sheridan and Florence Dimmer, in Trochu, Alberta. In 1942, he joined the Canadian Armed forces and was there until release in 1946. He married Betty Sayre on July 3, 1946 and they lived throughout Alberta and raised 10 children.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 57 years Betty; children: Lila (Dale) Starman of Whitecourt, Linda (James) Barschel of Calgary, Dale (Sharon) Sheridan of Grande Prairie, Edward Sheridan of Sherwood Park, Judy Rycroft (Mike Pedro) of Woking, Sue Foley (Jeff Leidl) of Fox Creek, Candace Sheridan of Beaverlodge, Lori (Marvin) Brown of Beaverlodge, Betty Jo Kenny Frisbie of California and Philip Sheridan of Grande Prairie; grandchildren: Kenny, Kevin and Kelly, Leanne, Willey, Christopher and Charmaine, Grant and Rodney, Garret and Tatum, Ali-Dale and Dalbert, Sherri, Tammy and Marty, Jaime and Jeffrey, Michelle, Ryan and Kristen, Megan and Randi, Sayre, Kennedy and Randy and many great-grandchildren; sisters: Betty (Jerry) Offredi, Joan (Mike) Molden, and Rita (Mike) Murtha; brother in-law Edward Mclean; as well as many nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
Bill loved the outdoors and worked for many years driving truck and operating heavy equipment. He moved to Beaverlodge in 1968, settling South of Beaverlodge in the Hinton Trail area. With his family, he farmed until an accident required him to move to town. In 1976, they settled in Beaverlodge, where he soon returned to work driving truck. In his later years, he operated grader, which he loved and bragged of being one of the few who actual knew how to grade a road. Bill loved to be on the go, and you could never keep him still, even when his health was failing. He was doing what he loved, even on his last day with us. He was out tinkering in the yard, as he just had to get the snow off those steps for all the little trick or treaters he looked forward to seeing and teasing.
Bill was predeceased by his father Basil and mother Florence, brother James, sister in-law Lorraine, son in-law Arnie May, and his beloved son Randy.
A Visitation was held on Tuesday, November 4, 2003 at Oliver’s Funeral Home.
A Memorial service was held on Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Beaverlodge, Alberta, with Sister Lise officiating.
