Obituary For William "Bill" Robert Snydmiller

William “Bill” Snydmiller, resident of Valleyview, AB, formerly of DeBolt, AB, passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at the age of 88 years.

Bill was born December 1, 1932, in Acme, AB. He also resided in Elkton, Olds, Grande Prairie, and DeBolt, AB.

He started working in the oil patch at the age of 17 in seismic. He then worked his way from roughneck to drilling superintendent throughout Alberta, Northern BC and the Arctic Islands, with numerous oil companies. He consulted on the drilling rigs for decades. He purchased the family farm in the early 60’s and resided there until 2020 when they moved to a senior’s facility in Grande Prairie, followed by one in Valleyview, AB.

Bill loved the outdoors, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, fossil hunting, boating, berry picking, and quadding. He loved entertaining family, friends, and was known for his amazing barbequing.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Jean; children: Curtis (Bonny), Darren (Lisa Rickstad), and Joanne (Doug McKenzie); granddaughters: Amanda (Blair) Dietzen, Alysse (Lane) Barks, and Macy Snydmiller; great-grandchildren Carter Dietzen, Madilyn Dietzen, and Braxton Barks.; brother Dennis Snydmiller; brother in-law Ed Demers; sisters in-laws Kathy Snydmiller, Laurie Snydmiller; as well as several other nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Bill was predeceased by his parents Alex and Daisy; siblings: Don, Al, Gordon “Skip”, sisters Lorna Chopey, and Sandra Demers; sisters in-laws; Mary Myroon, Rose Hrynchuk; and Olga Nieto; father and mother in-law George and Christine Wispinski.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at 2:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).

A Livestream of the service will be accessible 15 minutes prior to the service on Bill’s obituary on Oliver’s Funeral Home website.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alberta Cancer Foundation (710, 10123 99 St. NW, Edmonton, AB, T5J 3H1).
