Obituary For William "Bill" Lot Tarsiuk

Bill (William Lot) Tarsiuk, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, with his son Murray and great-grandson Ruben by his side in Salmon Arm, BC, at the age of 91 years.

Dad was born to Marie and John Tarsiuk in Hythe, AB, and was the youngest child of six children; Winifred, Elizabeth, Ruby, Albert, Esther, and William Lot, of which all are deceased.

When dad was three years old the family moved to Lymburn, AB, (west of Hythe). Dad attended Lambert School in Lymburn to grade nine, the highest level of education available at Lambert School. He then furthered his education through correspondence courses.

In his early adulthood he started out working on the railroad, however, he also did some farming, and raised a few cattle. In 1954, he married the love of his life, Guro Omlid of Valhalla Centre, AB. They moved to Grande Prairie, AB, in 1958 where he started his own construction company called ‘Tarsiuk Construction Ltd’. I was born in 1959, their only child.

My father worked in the construction industry his entire life. All of his employees will tell you he was a great guy to work for, always optimistic and easy to get along with. In fact, the only complaint I ever heard about my dad was that his constant whistling could get annoying to some of those who worked around him.

My dad always enjoyed a new challenge, so over the years he started several small oilfield businesses, became a realtor, and a locksmith, and even got into making soap in his eighties.

Dad had a strong faith in the Lord Jesus and was always very involved in the local church. He enjoyed old-time music, playing the guitar, mandolin, and mouth organ at many functions at church and in the senior lodges.

My dad was a good father, a good husband, a good grandfather, and a good friend. He is greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years Guro “Jo” Tarsiuk of Salmon Arm, BC; son Murray Tarsiuk (Karen) of Salmon Arm, BC; grandchildren Amanda Sommer (Scott) of Kamloops, BC, and Lee Tarsiuk of Grovedale, AB; as well as great-grandchildren: Jaida Barker, Levi Barker, Ruben Barker, Ezra Barker, Moses Sommer, all of Kamloops, BC.

A Memorial Service for Bill Tarsiuk will be held in Grande Prairie, in the summer of 2023.

Our wonderful friend Bill. We will never forget him and his lovely wife Jo. We played music together, as The Gospel Team, in Grand Prairie and areas for many years.
