Obituary For Victor Schneider
With sadness our family announces the passing of our brother, on Thursday, November 5, 2015, at 8:20am. Victor (Grizz) passed away in the ICU ward of the Royal Alex Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta. Members of his family were with him at the time of his passing.
Victor was raised on the family farm near Huallen, Alberta and he enjoyed the life on the farm. A sheep buck was his particular peeve; it had been trained by his siblings to butt. Each time Victor wandered out of the little yard gate the sheep buck greeted him, butted him and Victor spent a lot of time on the ground. Eventually Victor did not venture beyond the edge of the little fence. The sheep buck was an excellent baby sitter.
Victor was a kind and generous uncle, and will be missed by many. Victor also volunteered his services to the Beaverlodge Elks Club and the Wembley Lions Club, constructing and welding bleachers and corrals.
Victor’s adult life was involved with work in the construction field as a welder/high rigger, fitter, from the far North to Coal mines in Grande Cache. Eventually Victor left the Peace area and settled in Edmonton where he pursued various odd jobs and entertained himself up to his demise.
Victor is survived by his siblings: Alfred (Nina) Schneider, Ida (Erland) Frederiksen, Bill (Gail) Schneider and Phyllis (Dave) McGuffin; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts and cousins.
Victor was predeceased by his mother Elonora Florence Schneider and father Gustave William Schneider.
The Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 2:00pm at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wembley. Interment to take place in the St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Hope Mission Centre (PO Box 953, Edmonton, AB, T5J 2L8) or to St. John’s Lutheran Church (Box 339, Wembley AB, T0H 3S0).
