Verna Wood, resident of Grande Prairie, Alberta, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital at the age of 73 years.

Verna was born on December 4, 1951, to William and Mable Wood. She was born and raised in Grande Prairie, except for a short stint in Edmonton and Drayton Valley, Alberta. Verna spent her entire life in Grande Prairie, and she dispatched cabs for many years until her retirement.

Verna enjoyed listening to music, reading, and watching the Edmonton Oilers, as well as loved playing bingo.

She will be sadly missed by her brother Winston, nieces, nephews, and many more relatives and friends.

Verna was predeceased by her parents, William and Mable Wood, her little sister Barbara, as well as her brother Jim.

Interment of Verna’s ashes will take place at a later date.
