We offer families the opportunity to prepare and submit obituary notices written in their own words. We believe this allows each tribute to authentically reflect the life and legacy of the individual. To honour each tribute, obituaries are published as approved by the family.

Obituary For Tristram "Tris" Lee Weberg

In Loving Memory of Tristram Weberg

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Tristram Weberg announces his sudden passing on Saturday, October 10, 2026, in Rycroft, Alberta, at the age of 59.

Tris was born on December 5, 1966, in Spirit River, Alberta, to Bob Weberg and Shari Lazoruk. He spent his early childhood in Calgary until the family relocated back to the Peace Country, settling in Rycroft when he was 12.

With his warm and friendly nature, Tris gained many friends throughout his life. As a teenager, he acquired the nickname “Butch,” a name that stuck with him for the rest of his life. His good friends affectionately called him “Butchy,” reflecting the lasting relationships and special bonds shared with those closest to him.

Tris spent most of his working life in the oilfield industry, taking on a variety of jobs over the years, primarily as a pipe fitter. He made many friends along the way, working hard and building his life in the Peace Country, a place he loved.

Tris was a quiet, modest man with a sense of humour and a hearty laugh that those who knew him will remember fondly. He had a heart bigger than words can express and was kind and generous to all. He was the type of person who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. Always willing to lend a hand to someone in need, he never looked for recognition or expected anything in return.

Barbara Boal was the most special person to Tris and the love of his life. They spent many years together until Barb’s passing. The years they shared and the love between them were an important part of Tris’ story. Barb always held a very special place in his heart.

Tris loved living on his beautiful land along the Burnt River, a place that held significant meaning for him. He referred to himself as a “steward of the land,” reflecting the deep connection he felt to the property and his desire to care for it.

He had a tender heart for animals, especially his beloved cats, who were very dear to him. The love and care he gave them reflected the same gentle and compassionate spirit he shared with the people around him.

His gentle nature, quiet ways, and willingness to help others reflected the goodness he carried within. Tris had a way of showing he cared through his actions, generosity, and compassion. This made a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him. Tris will be remembered for his kindness, his humour, his modest ways, and above all, his generous heart. He was a good man who cared deeply, gave freely, and asked for little in return.

Tris will be sadly missed by his mother, Shari Lazoruk; his sister, Melody Backer (Tim); his niece and nephews, Josh Backer (Ally), Brooke Blaikie (Tyler), and Ethan Backer (Alyce); and his great-nephews, Bo, Dax, and Jett, as well as his extended family and stepfamily. He will be missed by many.

He was predeceased by his father, Bob Weberg.

Rest peacefully, Tris. You will be remembered with love.

The funeral will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Rycroft Ag Society (11055 PTH, Rycroft, Alberta), followed by a luncheon.

Memorial donations may be made to Bandaged Paws Animal Rescue Association (bandagedpaws.org/donate).
