Obituary For Thomas Donaldson
Thomas Donaldson, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Warsaw, ON, passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton, at the age of 58 years.
Tom was born January 15, 1960 in Peterborough, ON. The eldest of four brothers, he spent his childhood on the family farm in Warsaw, ON. In 1981, on a tip from a friend, he came out to Grande Prairie to get work and began his 37 year employment with Procter and Gamble, Weyerhaeuser, and International Paper.
Here in Alberta, his love of music found an outlet as a member of the band “Skyline”, playing many dances with his bandmates who were his lifelong friends.
Tom was always the life of the party, telling many wonderful funny stories that seemed to get better and funnier with each telling. He was a thoughtful and great host, making sure all had enough to eat and drink. He was flirtatious and had a sense of mischief, he always made the girls feel lovely and special.
He liked to dance, and would dance the night away at many P&G and Weyerhaeuser Christmas parties. He enjoyed the outdoors: camping fishing, and hunting.
Tom and his wife Valerie celebrated 35 years of marriage on July 30, surrounded by family and friends. Tom’s close loving relationship with Valerie could still make her laugh every day.
Tom was a hardworking man who loved his family and was always so proud of his sons and all their accomplishments.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Valerie; children: Graeme (Robyn Page), Braden (Breanna Bain), and Michael; granddaughter Nora; brothers: Bob (Leslie); Joe (Kelly), and Dave (Sheri); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was predeceased by his parents Gerald and Shirley Donaldson, and father in-law John Javos.
Funeral Mass will be held Friday, August 24, 2018, at 11:00am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grande Prairie (10404 102 St.).
Memorial donations may be made to University Hospital Foundation – ICU (Room 1H1.91, WMC, 8440 112 St. NW, Edmonton, AB, T6G 2B7).
