Obituary For Terry Ray Rule

Terry Ray Rule, 76, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday May 28, 2025, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer – faced with the same quiet resolve that defined his life.

Born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on October 19, 1948, Terry was the second child of Ray and Mary Ellen Rule. Through his younger years he attended school in Lethbridge, Fairview, Grande Prairie and Clairmont. He furthered his education in later years by completing courses and degrees at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and at Grande Prairie Regional College.

Terry lived a life defined by family, hard work, kindness, and curiosity. A devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, and uncle, he embraced various roles throughout his life- farmer, autobody technician, entrepreneur, and power engineer – each with unwavering dedication, a strong work effort and a craftsman’s care. Though a man of few words, his actions spoke profoundly: he believed in integrity, loyalty and doing what was right, never what was easy.

Terry had a love for music, classic car restoration, reading and travel. He truly cherished laughter and time spent with his family and friends. His quiet presence held a rare depth – a steady anchor in life’s storms. He will be remembered for his sharp and wry wit, his calm and steadfast demeanor, his humble wisdom, and the pleasure he brought to those around him.

Terry will be forever remembered by his wife, Sheena, his children: Gavin (Guilly), Braidie (Jason) and Caley (Eric); and his treasured grandchildren Damien and Kennedy.

He is predeceased by his parents Ellen and Ray Rule, as well as his sister Linda Cooke and brother Tom Rule.

Terry’s life was one of quiet strength, genuine humor, and lasting love. He measured his words carefully but lived his convictions fiercely – a legacy of steadfastness that will endure in all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.

The Funeral Service will be held at the Hythe Legion (9818 100 Ave) Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 1:00 pm. A private burial for family and close friends will follow at Hythe Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Terry respectfully wished for donations to be made to Odyssey House of Grande Prairie - admin@odysseyhouse.ca or a charity of your choice.
