Obituary For Terry Allan Sefton

It is with sadness and broken hearts that the family of Terry Allan Sefton, resident of Clairmont, AB, announce his passing on Friday, April 9, 2021, at the QEII Hospital, at the age of 61 years.

Terry was born in Didsbury, AB, on June 1, 1959, to Joyce and Keith Sefton. The family moved to Grande Prairie, and then to Clairmont in 1965, where he has resided ever since.

He started his mechanical career around age 2 with a screwdriver and a hammer. Terry went to Harry Balfour school in Grande Prairie and then transferred to Sexsmith school, graduated, and went on to further his career as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic. Terry would work with his Dad at Keith’s Small Engine Repair after school as a teen. He stayed working there as a mechanic and took over the business in 2000. He continued working until his health deteriorated.

Terry was a huge part of his family. He was a son, big brother, brother in-law, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend to many. He had lifelong friends and cherished them all.

He was kind, had a huge warm heart, and a comical prankster side that he came by honestly. Terry was always ready to give a helping hand, and when you asked about doing something, his reply was, “on Tuesday”.

Terry loved barbequing, football, baseball, curling, golfing, fishing, skidooing, cutting grass, and family days at the farm.

He had been cared for by his Doctors: Dr. B. Martin, Dr. Burris, Dr. R. Mishra, and Dr. Jones; and the homecare staff.

With Terry’s health and diabetes, he fought so hard until the very end, and his mind was so strong. The QEII Hospital and Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital in Edmonton also cared for Terry. Thank you.

He was always so outgoing and had come across another friend that he wanted in his life. They formed a bond and helped each other out at Glenrose Rehab, and continued their friendship even after they went back home. Thank you to Mavis and her family

Terry will be sadly missed by his loving parents Keith and Joyce; sister Cheryl (Victor); and extended family of uncles, aunts, cousins and dear friends.

He was predeceased by his little brother Kenny; grandpa and grandma Sefton; grandpa and grandma Cameron; and uncle Billy.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at 11:00am, at the Grande Prairie Cemetery (84th Avenue & 112th Street). Luncheon to follow from 12:00-2:00pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home (10006 107 Ave).

Memorial donations may be made to Diabetes Canada – Calgary (#220, 6223 2 St. SE, Calgary, AB, T2H 1J5), Heart and Stroke of Alberta (144, 5241 Calgary Trail NW, Edmonton, AB, T6H 5G8), or to Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada – AB and NWT Division (150, 9405 50 St., Edmonton, AB, T6B 2T4).

My sincere condolences to you and your family. I just thought the world of Terry. He was such a nice, friendly and positive man. His determination to be independent and not let his disability stop him from doing things was so admirable. When he was my patient I knew at times he was down but he never gave up. He always had a smile and a good story to tell. Terry always said that one day we would have a dance together....❤️
