Obituary For Tammy Francine Francois

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Tammy Francine Francois who passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023, at the age of 55 years, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital with her family by her side.

Tammy was born May 4, 1967, at Saint Ann’s Hospital in Fort Smith, NWT.

As a fiercely independent single mother, Tammy worked hard to raise her two boys, Kyle and Ryan. She worked various jobs throughout her life and especially enjoyed being a travel agent. Tammy loved to travel and was fortunate to see many parts of the world. Tammy married Gilbert Francois and together they had a beautiful daughter, Danielle.

Tammy loved family and loved a family get-together, especially Christmas. A great hostess and organizer of many memorable occasions, you always knew you were welcome at Tammy’s. She loved reading, dogs, camping, and the lake life, but not so much the water. She always had a crafty project on the go such as scrapbooking, knitting, and quilting, to name a few, to share with her family and friends.

Tammy was incredibly thoughtful and always paid attention to the little details. She was very proud of her indigenous heritage and enjoyed the culture. Recently Tammy’s dream came true of having a ceremonial teepee placed in the backyard.

Tammy is survived by her husband Gilbert; her children: Kyle, Ryan, and Danielle; mother Beverly (Ray); brothers: Richard, Ken, Troy (Michele), and Archie (Wendy); maternal grandmother Emma; and great-grandson Owen. Tammy will be greatly missed by her many nieces, nephews, step-family, and numerous friends.

Tammy was predeceased by her father Archie Plamondon, and his parents Bert and Olivine Plamondon, her biological father Matthew Flett, and his parents Duncan and Elizabeth Flett, her grandfather Edward Dupuis, and in-laws Fern and Della Francois.

A private Viewing will be held Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Oliver’s Funeral Home, Grande Prairie, AB.

Following the Viewing, the family invites all guests to join them for refreshments, appetizers, and a slideshow, at the Pomeroy Hotel (11633 100 St., Grande Prairie, Alberta T8V 3Y4) from 3:30 – 7:30 pm.

At Tammy’s request, there will be no funeral. There will be a celebration of life at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society AB/NWT Division (200, 325 Manning Road, NE Calgary, Alberta T2E 2P5, www.cancer.ca)
