Obituary For Sylvia Jean Hovdebo

Sylvia Hovdebo, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Sexsmith, AB passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024 at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital surrounded by loved ones at the age of 73 years.

Sylvia was born on January 11, 1951 in Sexsmith, AB. The second of eleven children.

Sylvia moved to Grande Prairie where she remained and raised two children. She was blessed to have four grandchildren she loved until her final days.

Sylvia was quiet, kind and giving. She liked to garden, play cards and spend time with her friends and family.

Sylvia will be sadly missed by her son Jason Hovdebo, daughter Shannon Hovdebo and daughter-in-law Kelly Hovdebo; grandsons Brady and Oliver; granddaughters Jordan and Addison; sisters: Sharon, Betty (Willy), Glenda, Patsy (John), Lois (Dwayne), Judy (Brent) and Jackie (Darrell); and brothers: Robbie (Kim), Gary and Brent (Charlene); brother-in-law Doug (Debbie) Jensen; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Sylvia was predeceased by her parents Martin and Vivian Hovdebo; spouse Donald Jensen; and brothers-in-law Philip Krishka and Raymond Shmyr.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024 at 2pm at the Faith Lutheran Church (9610 108 Ave.), Grande Prairie, AB. Interment will follow at Emerson Trail Cemetery (HWY 622).

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories (alzheimer.ca/ab/en/take-action/ways-donate) or Bandaged Paws Animal Rescue Association (bandagedpaws.org/donate).

A Livestream of the service will be accessible 15 minutes prior to the service on Sylvia Hovdebo's obituary on Oliver’s Funeral Home website.

    I am so sorry for your loss of your mom and sister. Sylvia was my neighbour for many years before she went into GPCC. She was kind and thoughtful. We enjoyed our visits. RIP, my friend.

    Sylvia you will be missed. You brought lots of laughter to Unit 22 and sure loved our walks down the halls and the story's you would tell. Rest in peace
