Obituary For Steven "Steve" Murray Howell

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, son, brother, and uncle, Steve Howell, on Monday, July 18, 2022, at the age of 58 years. Steve was born on August 2, 1963, the fourth child of Dennis and Joan Howell, Steve was a lifelong resident of Grovedale, AB. Here he thrived as an adventurous carefree freckle-faced youngster who grew into the honest, selfless, quickwitted, rascal we knew. He was a unique character whose hairy, rough exterior and gruff demeanor were a thin disguise for his soft, generous, loyal nature. Steve had a soft spot for animals and was adored by children. He could tackle any type of puzzle and totally knew the greatness of duct tape. He had a knack for teasing and right to the point greetings. On adventures, Steve was noted for being the most prepared and the first to rescue those who weren't. He was also the first to taunt on an argument, but also the first called to lend a hand. Through the years, Steve spent countless hours on the farm vehicles, snowmobiles, and quads. His love of the outdoors remained as treasured to him as his old Farmall tractor and Louis L Amour books. Steve was a gifted builder and exceeded in math. His organizational skills, attention to detail, and finesse with numbers were the right fit for his studies at NAIT and his 41 year career as a Sheet Metal Worker at LSM.

In 1995, Steve met the love of his life Colleen Fester, and they got married on November 3, 2001. Together they enjoyed many camping and quading trips with friends and family. Once convinced to travel by flying, there were many tropical vacations enjoyed. They spent most of their time together and were rarely apart. He will be missed dearly.

Steve's infectious smile will lovingly be remembered. He is survived by his wife Colleen; mother Joan Howell; siblings: Brenda Howell, Linda Hemerle (Dave), Jim Howell, and Shelley Penson (Russell); sister in-law Trina Binks (Brad); as well as nephews and nieces: Jason, and Brandon (Samantha) Hemerle; Brittany Levesque; Jordan (Dakota), Cole (Talisa), and Andrea Penson, Denny and Madeline Howell.

Steve was predeceased by his father Dennis Howell; brother Ken Howell; brother in-law Jack Hemerle; grandparents: Joseph and Mary Howell, Pete and Dorothy Comeau; as well as father and mother in-law Ron and Yvonne Fester.

As per Steve's request, there will be no funeral service.
