Obituary For Steve Lucuk

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Steve Lucuk on May 26, 2025, at the age of 82.

Steve was born in Woking, AB, on February 2, 1943, to Steve and Fedofie Lucuk, becoming the youngest of four children. He completed his grade school education in Woking. He then attended the University of Alberta in Edmonton, from which he earned his Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1966, majoring in accounting. Steve moved back to Grande Prairie to article and train with J.H Bennion & Co., achieving his Certified General Accountant designation in 1974. He went on to become the controller for Alberta Lands Inc. and Rimrock Realty Corp., where he worked for over 45 years until his retirement. He was a key advisor to the development of many buildings, apartments, and subdivisions in Grande Prairie.

Steve married the love of his life, Lucy Grotkowski on July 10, 1971. They spent 47 wonderful years together until Lucy’s passing in 2018. They enjoyed many recreational activities such as curling, softball, golf, camping, fishing and gardening. They were able to travel regularly to many different destinations, with Maui being their favorite.

Steve was a devoted family man and always did everything he could to provide for his family. He was always there to witness his son, Marlin’s, sporting and educational achievements and provide invaluable advice throughout his professional career. He continued that same devotion to his granddaughters Gracelyn and Ashlee, where he watched numerous dance performances and school awards.

Steve was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy, his parents and three siblings. He is survived by his son Marlin Lucuk (Kitrina Lucuk), as well as his beloved grandchildren, Gracelyn Lucuk and Ashlee Lucuk, along with many nieces and nephews.

The Celebration of Life will take place at Oliver’s Funeral Home (10005 107 Ave) on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 11:00 am, followed by a reception. The Interment will take place at the City of Grande Prairie Cemetery shortly after the reception and will be reserved for family only.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made in Steve’s memory to the Alberta Northwest Palliative Care Society (www.abnwpalliative.ca)
