Obituary For Stanley Lewis Thew

Stan Thew, resident of Beaverlodge, AB, formerly of Grande Prairie, passed away Friday, December 9, 2016, at the QEII Hospital, at the age of 80 years, with his wife of 49 years Ruth, daughter Phyllis and granddaughter Adina by his side.

Stan was born November 27, 1936, in Peace River, to parents Art and May Thew. He moved with his parents to Grande Prairie at the age of 3 and grew up there. Stan did move to other places, but always returned to Grande Prairie. His ambition was to make trucking his career which he succeeded when working for Borstad Cartage/ Moving for over 25 years, moving other people’s furniture across Canada and the USA.

In his time off, Stan enjoyed fishing and camping until declining health prevented it. Then his leisure time was spent reading and solving crossword puzzles. He was an avid baseball fan and rarely missed a Toronto Blue Jays game on TV. CFL football was also high on his list of favourite sports.

Stan leaves to mourn his wife Ruth, daughter Phyllis (Garry) Amour, granddaughter Adina Evans, great-granddaughter Izabella Hulboj and grandson Robert Evans. He is also survived by his sons Terry and Allen and the mother of his children Valerie Moore.

He was predeceased by his parents, 4 brothers, his sister, step-daughter Maureen (Marie) Fraser and son Dwayne Thew.

At Stan’s request he is to be cremated and there will be no Funeral Service or Burial.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
