Shirley Anne Gorman, age 79, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025.

Born in Berwyn, Alberta, Shirley settled in Grande Prairie, Alberta, in 1973, where she built a life full of love, laughter, and friendship. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Kim Nugent; her son, Vern (Shauna) Carnochan; and her cherished grandchildren, Alexandria (Erik) Taylor, Katelyn Nugent, and Noah Nugent.

Shirley was predeceased by her parents, Thomas (Slim) and Violet Allen; her husband, Patrick Gorman; and her son-in-law, David Nugent.

She was blessed with many dear friends and will be remembered for her kind and caring nature, love of family, and appreciation for life’s simple joys. Shirley found great happiness in her beautiful flowers and gardens, enjoyed time outdoors, and was known for her wonderful cooking. Her strong faith guided her throughout life and brought comfort and peace.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Pope and the staff at Prairie Lake Hospice for their compassionate care. Special thanks to Shauna Carnochan for the love, care, and countless trips she made to Grande Prairie for Shirley. This was very appreciated by all the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shirley’s memory to Prairie Lake Hospice (https://www.chpca.ca/donate/).

Shirley’s warmth and kindness touched all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Oliver’s Funeral Home (10005 107 Ave, Grande Prairie). Following the service, friends are invited to join the family for refreshments in Oliver’s Tea Room.

I met Shirley in the early 90's when she was involved with Mary Kay marketing. She always had the best interest in her friends and family! Whenever I met her in the community, she would always stop and say hello and talk with me about life and how the world is going! She really was such a great person! RIP my friend!
