We offer families the opportunity to prepare and submit obituary notices written in their own words. We believe this allows each tribute to authentically reflect the life and legacy of the individual. To honour each tribute, obituaries are published as approved by the family.

Obituary For Shelley Bernice Mainville

Shelley Mainville, a resident of Beaverlodge, Alberta, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at the age of 71 years.

Shelley was born on July 30, 1954, in Picton, Ontario. As the daughter of Joe Sturgeon, a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, she spent much of her childhood travelling the world with her parents. While living in Hemer, Germany, she met her future husband, Len, while at church. Len was also a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, and Shelley continued to travel with him throughout his military career.

In 2004, the family settled in Beaverlodge, Alberta, where Len retired from the CAF. Shelley then focused on her career in public service, working in finance.

In her spare time, Shelley enjoyed many hobbies. She loved reading, quilting, crocheting, building Lego, and completing puzzles. Camping and travelling were among her greatest passions. Shelley was known for her warmth, kindness, and joyful spirit. She always put others first and was famous for her heartfelt hugs, often quite literally falling into people’s arms.

Shelley will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband, Len; her children, Bonnie-Jo (Gary) Clark and Len (Trish) Mainville; and her grandchildren, Cassie Mainville, John Mainville, and Mikayla Clark. She is also survived by numerous extended family members and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents and by Len’s parents.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Beaverlodge (1107 – 1 Ave), preceded by a viewing at 10:00 a.m. Following the service, friends and family are invited to join the family for a luncheon at the church.
