Obituary For Sandra Lee Dieckmann
Sandra Lee Dieckmann, a long-time resident of Grande Prairie, Alberta, passed away suddenly on July 31, 2025, at the age of 62.
Sandra was born in Edmonton, AB, to Hans and Marjory (Kidner) Dieckmann. She was the oldest of four children. The family lived in Edmonton until her little brother was born in 1964, then they packed up and moved from river to river in northern Alberta, because their Dad built bridges for a living. The only kids Sandra had to play with was her little brother and when her cousins occasionally came to the river they were at, for summer vacations.
When Sandra was old enough to start school, they moved to Peace River. They lived there until she finished grade 3, then the family moved to Spirit River for one year. They then packed up again and moved to Grande Prairie where they stayed from that time on. Sandra completed grade 12 at the Composite High School.
Sandra was a very kind-hearted person who loved to give hugs. Her smile and bright blue eyes would light up the room when she walked in. She was a very quiet and shy woman. Her voice was very soft and light. Her laughter was like a little girl’s giggle. Sandra never forgot anyone’s birthday and she remembered everyone at Christmas.
Sandra was a very organized person when it came to her daily tasks—everything had to be done on time and done properly. She was very frugal and managed her own finances/budget. Like her Dad, she was clever with her money.
Sandra volunteered at the Salvation Army Thrift Store for many years and loved the work. She loved to read, play puzzles of all kinds, coloring, talking with family and friends, and going out for lunch or supper.
Sandra also loved to go out on little adventures and shopping trips with Nicole. She enjoyed spending time with her and looked forward to their visits. The family would like to thank Nicole for the care, kindness and friendship that she gave Sandra, and for being with Sandra at the time of her passing.
Left to mourn the loss of Sandra are her mother Marjory; her brother Kevin (Mavis); her sister Lenette (Tim); her sister Shaynna; and her nephews Anthony and Kevin. Sandra was predeceased by her father Hans Dieckmann.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025, at 2:00 pm at the Brightwood Cemetery in Entwistle, AB (52278-52322 Range Rd 73, Entwistle, AB).
Sandra – You will be sadly missed and will forever be in everyone’s heart.
