Obituary For Ruth Lynne Spero

Ruth “Lynne” Spero, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Winnipeg, MB, passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at the QEII Hospital at the age of 74 years. Ruth Lynne Spero was born on June 29, 1947, to William and Marjorie Hartmier, she was the oldest of their five children. She was raised in Winnipeg and attended Gordon Bell School. Lynne met John Spero at a German Club Dance on June 28, 1969, and they were engaged two weeks later on July 12, 1969. Lynne and John got married on March 28, 1970. Shortly after the wedding, they moved to Grande Prairie, John & Lynne were very much ingrained in the community and also established roots in the business sectors involving retail menswear and the restaurant industry. Lynne was incredibly proud, with a dry sense of humour enjoyed by many. Lynne loved spending time with her grandchildren and looking through pictures and videos. She enjoyed visiting and catching up on the phone with old friends and family. She also loved both business and politics. Lynne will be sadly missed by her children: Justin Alexander Spero, Chris Douglas Spero, and Cord Willis (Amber) Spero; grandchildren Jaikin Alexander Spero (Justin’s son) and Clark Jay Spero (Cord’s son); as well as her brother Cliff Hartmier, and sister Susen Coey. Lynne was predeceased by her husband John Alexander Spero; parents Marjorie and William Hartmier; brother Douglas Hartmier; as well as her sister Lorraine Hartmier. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 26, 2021, at 11:30am at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave). A livestream link to watch the service will be available 10 minutes prior to the service. Memorial Donations may be made to the Canadian Transplant Association (PO Box 71530 Hillcrest Post Office, 1463 Johnston Rd., White Rock, BC, V4B 3Z0).

Grief is the price we pay for loving someone! We will long remember Lynne and the memories we shared! posted by Paul Grinager : Lynne's husband John & I were classmates & roommates at the U of North Dakota over 50 years ago. I often spent time in Winnipeg in the home of John's parents - Connie & Eric Spero. When Lynne came into John's life, she came into mine & when I got married on 6-6-1970, John stood up with me. My wife, Judy & I were good friends & kept in touch with Lynne all these years. After John died, we brought Lynne & her boys to Texas for a visit. I shall miss my Canadian friends very much.
