We offer families the opportunity to prepare and submit obituary notices written in their own words. We believe this allows each tribute to authentically reflect the life and legacy of the individual. To honour each tribute, obituaries are published as approved by the family.

Obituary For Roy Allan Wade
It is with sadness that the family of Roy Allan Wade announces his passing on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the age of 86.
Roy was born on March 6, 1940, in Spirit River, Alberta, and was a longtime resident of Grande Prairie. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, predeceased by his parents, Ruth and Arthur Wade, and his siblings, Art, Lillian, Edna, Ruth, Ellen, Gladys, and Ford.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Dawn, and his granddaughters, Kennedy and Kassidy. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, including a special bond with his niece, Iris Fenner.
Roy dedicated over 30 years to Windsor Ford, where he worked as a parts salesman. He truly loved his job and the people he worked alongside, forming many lasting friendships throughout the years.
He was also a proud and active member of the Elks Lodge, where he valued the camaraderie and friendships he built over time.
Roy had a deep love for hockey and rarely missed a game. He was a devoted fan of the Edmonton Oilers and spent many years attending local Storm games with his season tickets, something he truly enjoyed.
He also had a lifelong passion for horses, something that was a big part of his life for many years. Roy spent countless hours around horses while raising his family and cherished the time he spent riding. One of his greatest joys was heading into the mountains on annual trail rides with friends, spending a week exploring the backcountry. This was something he looked forward to year after year.
He will be remembered for his easygoing nature and his love of telling jokes, especially his corny one-liners that never failed to bring a smile to those around him. Even in his final days, he continued to share those jokes with the nurses, bringing moments of light and laughter despite everything he was going through.
Roy passed peacefully in the morning, surrounded by loved ones.
A graveside memorial will be held in Spirit River at a later date, where he will be laid to rest with his parents and siblings. Details will be shared once arrangements are finalized, and all who knew Roy are welcome to attend.
Those who knew Roy are invited to share memories and condolences with the family.
Condolences
