Rose Marie Heck, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Fairview, AB, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2015 at Points West Living at the age of 83 years.

Rose Marie was born on December 12, 1931 at Waterhole, AB, and was raised in Friedenstal. She went to school in the Red Star district. Rose Marie worked at Boyt’s Department Store and at the Fairview Nursing Home where she retired.

Rose Marie enjoyed her flowers, gardening, her needlework of all kinds and taking pictures with her camera. You could be sure that the coffee pot was always on at Rose Marie’s. She was a hard worker with a strong will and was always helping others when needed.

She received two prize ribbons for her poppy needlepoint picture. She also learned how to be a carpenter.

It was her family and friends (and her pets) that made her tick, and they’ll always remember her baking and needlework that she enjoyed so much.

She will be sadly missed by her children Lloyd, Kenneth, Micheal and Sheila (Alvin); grandchildren: Val (Dave), Kelvin (Sonya), Irene (Darwin), Fern (Paul) and Becky (Stef); 13 great-grandchildren and many other family and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Katerina, her brothers Tony, Leo, Willie, George, Peter and Adolph; daughter Shirley; and nephew Kenny.

The Memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 2:00pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.). Graveside services will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
