Obituary For Ronald Leslie Carnohan

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Ronald Carnohan, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, on Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at the age of 73 years.

Ron was born June 16, 1946 in Edmonton, AB. He led an interesting and diverse life, living each day on his terms. He spent most of his adult life in the oil patch, owning and operating oilfield construction companies and heavy trucks and trailers.

He was well known for always being ready for a challenge. He loved the game of hockey and played goal for many teams, always playing for keeps. Ron later raised a herd of bison, a passion that he enjoyed every day. Ron loved nature and had a particular soft spot for animals. He spent many hours taking photos, or just sitting quietly enjoying all their beauty.

Ron is survived by his wife and partner Shirley Anne Carnohan; daughter Kim Nugent; son Vern Carnohan; step-daughter Nikki (Dave) Nyland; step-son Mark (Kathryn) Gass; grandchildren: Alexandria, Katelyn, Noah, Megan, Carter, Riley, Cooper, and Sawyer; sister Sheila Linfield and nephews David Linfield and Phil Linfield.

He was predeceased by his parents Andrew and Hessie Carnohan and son in-law Dave Nugent.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2019, at 2:00pm, at Webster Community Hall in Webster, AB.

We will hold him in our hearts forever and miss him each and every day.

Memorial donations may be made to Bandaged Paws Animal Rescue Association (9920 91 Ave., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 0G3).

Having spoken with Ron, recently on the phone, I am very saddened to hear the news of his passing. I so much enjoyed my visits with him and Shirley every fall when I deliver them yard rent honey. I think it was Ron who found me working a bee yard near his farm, and he invited me to put bees on his land. He told me how his father had a few hives and that he would love to have some on his farm. I was happy to get another site, but was incredibly surprised at the interest that he took in making sure that my bees did well. As the first location was very open to the north winds, he put up Elk fencing around the yard and black matting on the fence to block the wind, all at his own expense, never asking for anything in return beyond the pails of honey that I would bring him. Over the years, we became good friends, and if Ron saw anything amiss in one of my yards in the area, he was quick to give me a call. I will miss the great conversations and hospitality that he showed me whenever I stopped by. What I will remember most about him is the kindness he showed to me and his neighbours, his love of nature (particulary his buffalo herd), his exuberance for life, and his enduring positive outlook.

Very sad to hear of Ronâ??s passing. I just heard of it today. I met him in Peavy Mart not a month ago. My brother Gerald met him before I did when he had Spooky on the bug screen. I remember asking Garry Wilson if he knew Ron Carnohan. I hope those names are spelled right.EVVEERRbody knows Ron Carnohan was his reply. A legend in the country and fun to be around.

Very saddened to hear of Ron's passing. Ron was a gentle soul and kind to all. He was a very dear friend to my Dad - and continued to watch out for my Mom after my Dad passed. Dad and Ron solved many world problems around the kitchen table and out in the buffalo pasture. I imagine that is what they are doing once again...... My heart goes out to Shirley and family as they struggle through the process of loss - a difficult one.
