Obituary For Rodney Keith Jordan
Rodney Keith Jordan, age 69, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Prairie Lake Hospice in Grande Prairie, Alberta, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on October 27, 1955, in Lethbridge, Alberta, Rod spent his early years in Medicine Hat before graduating from high school in Hanna. Some of his fondest memories were spending the summers at his Grandma and Grandpa’s farm with his cousins. He briefly attended the University of Alberta before settling in Grande Prairie in the spring of 1974, a community he would call home for the next 50 years.
Rod completed his apprenticeship at NAIT and spent his career as a Communications Electrician with Telus, retiring after 35 years of dedicated service. He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and volunteered his time and energy in support of the Grande Prairie community. Rod was a huge supporter of his daughters’ sports and activities, served as President of the Grande Prairie Golf & Country Club, and built lasting friendships through decades of service and sport.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years, Theresa, and his daughters: Allison Yurko (Landon) and grandchildren Shay and Ty, and Stephanie Malekoff (Mark) and grandchildren Mari and Evie. He is survived by his mother, Rita Jordan, his sister, Judy Brunton, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and a large extended family who were very special and dear to his heart.
Rod was predeceased by his father, Keith Jordan, and his brother-in-law, Elroy Brunton.
Rod’s greatest joys were his family, summers at Shaw’s Point, and time spent on the golf course. He had a deep love for golf, hockey, camping, and fishing—and was a devoted fan of the Edmonton Oilers and the Green Bay Packers. Whether cheering on his grandchildren at their activities or sharing laughs around a campfire, Rod brought quiet strength, positivity, and a great sense of humor to every moment. He was known for his sharp mind, humble spirit, and strong work ethic.
He leaves behind a legacy of resilience, generosity, and a deep devotion to family. Even throughout his battle with cancer, Rod never complained, choosing instead to face each day with courage, strength, and love.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, the Cancer Clinic, and Prairie Lake Hospice for the outstanding care and support that they provided to Rod and the family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at People’s Church (11850 108 St) Grande Prairie on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., with Luncheon to follow at the Grande Prairie Curling Club (10127 99 Ave).
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to the Alberta Northwest Palliative Care Society. www.gpcare.ca
Rod’s presence will be profoundly missed and forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
