Robert Patrick Chagnon, born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, on May 26, 1956, passed away on June 30, 2025, in Grande Prairie, Alberta, at the age of 69 years. He was surrounded by the people he loved the most.

Robert was known by all as a driven man, who was relentlessly tenacious and incredibly hardworking. He was the type of man you could call at any hour of the night, 365 days a year, and expect an answer. Robert was always the first one in, the last one out and worked primarily at his own expense for those whom he loved the most.

Robert’s love for his three children was only matched by his passion for rerun movies, old cars, and classic tractors. His enthusiasm was for the machines of the 70s and 80s, and he spent most of his free time after retirement remodeling and rebuilding machines others thought to be completely broken. Robert considered himself a road warrior and found fulfillment in rebuilding things that would otherwise spend their days in a junkyard.

He dedicated his life to his family. Robert worked more hours in his lifetime than most would work in two. He lived as a minimalist and spent the majority of his money taking care of his family or saving for retirement. He was by no means materialistic, and cared more about the people around him than the things he had or was doing. Anyone who ever spoke to him, or more likely, listened to him speak, knew him as an honest and hardworking man. Truly a rare cut, Robert Chagnon was one-of-a-kind.

Robert is survived by his three kids, Julien Bolduc, Philippe Chagnon, and Kristine Chagnon, and his mother, Lucille Chagnon, who all miss him very much.
