We offer families the opportunity to prepare and submit obituary notices written in their own words. We believe this allows each tribute to authentically reflect the life and legacy of the individual. To honour each tribute, obituaries are published as approved by the family.

Obituary For Robert Herbert Stierle

Robert Herbert Stierle passed away with his family by his side after a short battle with cancer on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, in Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 80 years.

Robert was born on November 30, 1945, to Albert and Elsie Stierle. He attended Percy School before later going to Harry Balfour School and graduating from the Grande Prairie Vocational School in 1966.

On July 3, 1976, Robert married Eileen Smith. They first farmed alongside his father before establishing their own farm near Hermit Lake. There they built a life together through hard work and dedication.

After retiring in 2008, Robert and Eileen spent the next 18 years traveling, camping, fishing, and living the winters as snowbirds. They wintered in Arizona and travelled by motorhome through Alaska, Manitoba, and many places in between, enjoying every mile of the journey. Robert always liked to brag that he could leave Arizona in April and be dipping his toes in the Arctic Ocean at Tuktoyaktuk by July.

Robert leaves to mourn his wife, Eileen; daughters Tamara (Mike Gillett) and Aimée Orser; grandsons Brody (Mariah and Cash) and Colby; granddaughters Emma and Hailey; sister Caroline (Bill Bonhage); brothers Ed (Elaine) Stierle and Roger (Susan) Stierle; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Elsie and Albert Stierle; brother Carl; nephew Darrel Stierle; and in-laws Frank and Jean Smith.

As per Robert's wishes, there will be no service.

In honour of Robert's wishes, memorial donations may be made to Palliative Care (https://www.abnwpalliative.ca/donate/) or to a charity of one's choice.
