Obituary For Robert "Bob" Frederick Stevenson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Frederick Stevenson on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at the amazing age of 96 years young.

Bob celebrated his 96th birthday in the hospital surrounded by family. He was so happy to share his special day with those that were able to attend. He passed peacefully in the early morning hours while visiting with his nighttime caregiver.

Bob was born on January 18, 1930, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital to Frank and Edna Stevenson. He grew up on the family farm in DeBolt, AB, with four siblings: Frank, Alice, Lloyd, and Edna. Bob married Jean Linden in 1956. They started their own farm, raising registered Black Angus beef cattle, farming grain, and of course, raising Bob’s beloved horses. During this time, their three children were born: Dale in 1956, Janice in 1958, and Brenda in 1965. Bob and Jean sold the family farm in 1997 and retired to Grande Prairie.

Bob’s days were filled with gardening, lawn care, and chauffeuring Mom around town, as well as many coffee and lunch outings. His last years were spent doing puzzles, keeping up with the news, reading, and enjoying visits. His heart was broken when Jean passed in March 2025, leaving him without her by his side, where she had been for the past 69 years.

Husband, Father, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, Brother, Uncle, Friend, Neighbor, and a true cowboy/rancher. He was a pillar of the community, always showing kindness, love, and support for all those in need. Bob was blessed with a long, full life, abundant in family and friends. He was a strong man with a big heart who enjoyed life to the fullest, following his faith every day of his life.

Bob will be sadly missed by his son, Dale (Gail Martineau); daughters Janice Widdifield and Brenda Berube; grandchildren Michael (Annalisa) Widdifield {Avalyn, Carson, and Sienna}, Jeremy (Nikki) Fabrick {Jase, Brody, and Reese}, Tania (Erik) Petterson {Munroe and Loki}, Nicole (Ryan) Griffiths {Jacob, Pyper, and Ember}, Dillon (Leigha) Berube, Dakota Berube, Danny (Amber) Martineau {Abby and Ethan}, and Rachelle (Jonathan Broderick) Martineau {Leo, Thomas, Griffin, and Clark}; sisters Alice Hickson and Edna Linden; brother-in-law Carl Linden (Janet); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Bob was predeceased by his wife, Jean (Linden); parents Frank and Edna; parents-in-law Tony and Francis Linden; grandson Ryan Widdifield; sons-in-law Edwin Widdifield and Darcy Farbrick; brother Frank and wife Marie; brother Lloyd and wife Elaine; brothers-in-law William Linden and Laurence Hickson; sisters-in-law Laurette (Roberts) Lafferty and Georgia (DeBolt) Stevenson; nephews Gordon and Bruce Stevenson; and niece Kim Auston.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave). Following the service, friends are invited to join the family for a luncheon in Oliver’s Tea Room. After the luncheon, interment will take place at the Spring Creek Cemetery (Grande Prairie County No. 1, AB T8W 5G9).

Memorial donations may be made to STARS (www.stars.ca) or to a charity of one’s choice.
