Obituary For Richelle Ruth Reiswig

Richelle Ruth Reiswig, resident of Grande Prairie, Alberta, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital at the age of 49 years.

Richelle was born on February 20, 1976. She was raised on a farm in Peoria, Alberta where she was able to enjoy many farm animals and pets. She attended school from kindergarten to grade school in Wanham until the school closed. She then finished her schooling and graduated from Eaglesham.

Richelle completed a hairdressing course in Grande Prairie. She worked at a hair salon for a year and found that it was not the career that she anticipated. Eventually, she decided to try the service industry and worked as a cashier at Superstore. Richelle worked there for 23 years until the day she found out she had leukemia in December of 2022.

Richelle had a loving personality, very sociable, kind, and empathetic. People would wait extra time in the lines at Superstore, just to go through her till to chat with her. Richelle enjoyed watching cooking shows, cooking, e-biking, walking their German Shepherd (Bear) and shopping. Her happy place was down at the Flat, with her face in the sun, a wine in her hand and her feet in the Smoky River.

She will be sadly missed by her husband (of 30 years) Mark Lario and Mother Donna Joy Reiswig, Stepfather Albert Pelletier, In- laws: David (Allison ) and family Brook, Mac and Jill, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Richelle was predeceased by her father Bernie Reiswig, brother Trevor Reiswig (Brenda Dafoe), mother/father- in-law Sandra and Garry Lario. Grandparents; Ruth and Irving Reiswig and Ruth Lang (Littman) and Earl Lang. Uncles: Keith, Reg and Rollie Reiswig, Doug Tetz and cousin Doug Reiswig.

Richelle received two stem cell transplants, and many transfusions. Her family encourages everyone to consider becoming a stem cell and blood donor.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home (10005 107 Ave).

In lieu of flower's Memorial Donations may be made to Sorrentino’s Compassion House www.compassionhouse.org/

She always had a smiley face & such a bright personality. Unfortunately I haven't seen her in quite awhile and sadden to hear this. The world has definitely lost a special person.

She was definitely one of my favourites cause she always spoke her mind and the truth. The customers loved her as well and would wait in line for their "favourite cashier".     So many fond memories over our school years...in elementary we used to practice drawing our initials in bubble letters... she was triple R and I always thought that was so cool. Numerous sleepovers and parties... probably stories not to be told on social media. I am so sorry to hear of her passing. Taken too soon but maybe not soon enough for the struggle she endured. A tough girl from a wonderful family... my thoughts are with you Mrs Reiswig and Mark.
