It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Raymond Lee Smith, a longtime resident of Rycroft, AB, on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

Raymond is lovingly remembered by his wife, Laura; daughters Samantha, Melissa, Marcia, and Christina; son Daniel; four grandchildren; siblings LeRae, Angie, and Eddy; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also dearly missed by his mother, Sharon Starkweather, who resides in San Bernardino, California.

Raymond loved many outdoor activities. He was known for his strong work ethic, vibrant personality, and consistently great advice. He was truly a jack of all trades, able to fix, build, and solve just about anything life brought his way. But more than his strength and skills, what stood out the most was his big heart.

The family would like to thank everyone for their care and support. Ray will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Raymond was predeceased by his father, Eddy Lee Smith.

The memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave). Following the service, friends are invited to join the family for a luncheon in Oliver’s Tea Room.
