Obituary For Ralph Anthony Kramps

Ralph Anthony Kramps resident of Crooked Creek, AB, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2022, in Valleyview, AB, at the age of 80 years one week before his 81st birthday.

Ralph was born in Westlock, AB, on October 8, 1941.

When Ralph was 6 years old, the family moved to Crooked Creek and Dad took up farming. At the age of 16, Ralph left home and went to work on the oil rigs. After about 10 years, he was hired on with Reading and Bates and went overseas to work on the big offshore rigs in the North Sea of Scotland and England. He made England his home base for a few years. Mom and Aunt Irene made a trip over there to visit him, managing all the subways on their own! Ralph worked his way up to being the Tool Push. His work took him to many different countries, including Africa, Egypt, Malta, Malaysia, Singapore, and others. Singapore and Malta were some of his favorites.

Over the years Ralph kept buying land and cows for Gerald to farm and look after! When he was in his early 40s, he was tired of traveling around the world and decided to come home and take up farming his land. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved to tease and have fun with his nieces and nephews.

The past few years Ralph’s health started to deteriorate and finally, after a month in the Valleyview Hospital last January, he moved to the Red Willow Lodge in Valleyview. There, he seemed to settle in pretty good, and quite enjoyed the variety of desserts they provided.

Even if you got “grumpy” occasionally Ralph, we all loved you and are going to miss you, especially the long phone calls! Ralph was always interested in hearing about the family, and we know that he kept track of us all.

Ralph will be sadly missed by his brother Gerald Kramps (special friend Darlene Owen); sisters: Kathy (Bob) Hurley, Phyllis (Lloyd) Borgford, and Norma (John) Neil; sister-in-law Maxine Kramps; his many nieces and nephews as well as their families.

Rest in Peace Ralph as you join your mom and dad, sister Marjorie; brothers: Joe and Francis; brother-in-law Raoul, and great nephew Cole up in Heaven in God’s Kingdom

Memorial Donations may be made to Holy Rosary Catholic Church (Crooked Creek, AB, T0H 0Y0), or you may give it to the family to mail it on your behalf.
