Obituary For Pete Lykins

Pete Lykins, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on May 2nd, 2025, in Hythe, Alberta, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and compassion. Born on June 2nd, 1939, in Hamilton, Montana, Pete's life was a testament to hard work, dedication, and unwavering love for his family.

Pete was a true, faith filled cowboy at heart, with a spirit as free as the open range. He spent many years as a truck driver, traversing the vast landscapes of the American and Canadian West, and his love for the open road never waned. His passion for wood working and farming was evident in everything he did, and his skilled hands crafted beautiful pieces that will be cherished for generations to come.

Above all, Pete's greatest joy in life was his family. He was a devoted husband to his late wife, Margaret and a loving father to his sons, Rex (wife Barb), and Scot (wife Colleen), his late daughter Suzie, and his daughter, Mellody (husband William). His heart overflowed with pride and love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Pete's patience, kindness, and caring nature touched the lives of all who knew him. He was a pillar of strength and a source of unwavering support for his family, and his absence leaves a void that can never be filled. His legacy of love and compassion will live on through the countless lives he touched.

A viewing will take place on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, from 12:30-1:30pm (MDT), allowing friends and family to pay their respects and celebrate Pete's remarkable life at the Beaverlodge Alliance Church (409 10 St, Beaverlodge, Alberta). Funeral service to follow to honor Pete's life at 1:30pm.

A Livestream of the service will be available 5 minutes prior to the service start time.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Continuing Care Centre in Hythe for their compassionate care and support during Pete's final years. Their kindness and dedication provided comfort and solace during a difficult time.

Pete Leroy Lykins will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His love, wisdom, and gentle spirit will continue to guide and inspire those who carry his memory in their hearts. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, may we find solace in the cherished memories and the enduring legacy he leaves behind.

I wasn't very old and death was not totally understood. He had this wonderful wolf/dog. It's time had come. And I sat with Mr Lykins as he had to let the animal go. I saw Mr Lykins cry. We never really said much but he did say this time comes for everyone. I miss you already Mr Lykins.
