Obituary For Patricia Ann Sears

Patricia Sears, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Sexsmith, AB, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2022, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, at the age of 85 years.

Pat was born on November 18, 1936, in Vegreville, AB, where she was also raised. She graduated from Nursing at the University of Alberta in 1959. She came to Grande Prairie to work as a nurse, first at the Grande Prairie hospital, then for Public Health. She married in 1962 and she and Raymond Sears shared 59 years together. Their first son, Brent, was born in 1965, followed by Greg in 1967.

Pat embraced the role of the farm wife and mother. She was known to cook huge meals for family and friends; there was always room for one more at the table. For many years this included agricultural trainees from around the world, many of whom remain in touch with the Sears family. She enjoyed travel, swimming, and was always ready for a game of Scrabble. Her sense of humour was known to spice up any occasion. She loved to play the piano and frequently brought her musical talent to the Clairmont United Church, as well as funerals. She also sang in the GP Singers Choir.

She will be dearly missed by her husband, Raymond Sears; her son, Greg (Mélise) Sears; grandchildren: Maiya and Megan Sears; sister Joyce Hantiuk; sister-in-law Rita Sears and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son, Brent Sears (2004) and her brother, Allan Jennings (2012).

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 2, 2022, at 10:30am, at the St. Paul’s United Church in Grande Prairie (10206 100 Ave). Reception to follow at the Golden Age Centre (10222 101 Ave).

The family wishes to acknowledge and thank those who provided care for Patricia, specifically Princess Guevarra and Devine Baggayan.

Memorial Donations may be made to the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation. (11205 110 St, Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 4B1).

A Livestream of the service will be accessible 15 minutes prior to the service on Shaune's obituary on Oliver's Funeral Home website.
