Look Up – Way up!! There is an angel on the way as our beloved mom, Nancy Irene Tipman passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at the age of 92 years, in Grande Prairie, AB.

Waiting to greet her will be her loving husband, Ken, her two oldest sons John and Jaye, her grandson Shawn, her brothers Dan, Leo, Morris, and Bill, and the numerous friends who have predeceased her.

She is survived by her sister Noreen Vanderveen of London, ON; she has left behind her two oldest daughters: Michelle (Eric) Karlzen, and Bonnie (Dave) Evans; son Lee (Sharon) Tipman; daughter Debby (Randy) Waldron; and youngest son Trace (Karen) Tipman, all of whom will miss her dearly. She will also missed by 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren who will no longer have the pleasure of experiencing her kind and loving nature, or her fabulous cooking, especially her crispy apple pie, her no bake cookies, and her cabbage rolls, and …..

Nancy was born in Foothills, AB, to Mike and Esther Lubarsky and moved into the ‘house on the hill’ in Edson, AB, when she was quite young.

She met Ken Tipman, the love of her life when she was 16 years old and has spent her entire life taking care of him and their family while instilling in them the importance of caring and being kind, something she demonstrated her entire life. Though Nancy and Ken did spend the first portion of their life together in Mercoal, AB, and Luscar, AB, they moved to Edson, AB, early in their marriage and spent 15 years there before moving to Camrose, AB. for a short period of time. Then they moved up to Fairview, AB, in 1970, where they lived until Nancy moved into an adult care facility in September 2022.

Nancy instilled in all her children an appreciation for the outdoors and the importance of family, something that she was devoted to fostering her entire life. When they moved to Fairview both her and Ken became passionate about square dancing and were able to convince many Peace Country dancers to join them in Jamborees throughout all of Canada. One of Nancy’s big passions was her flower beds. Word quickly got around that if you wanted to see some spectacular flower beds you had to get over to Nancy’s house and take a look at her yard, and of course join her for tea and some amazingly tasty baked goods while you were there; something she always insisted on. Nancy was extremely proud of her flowers and when asked why that was so important, she would simply say that it made people feel good when they walked by. That was Nancy!

Heads up angels! Nancy Tipman is coming to town, and she will continue to work tirelessly to foster the caring, kindness, and consideration that this world so desperately needs.
