Obituary For Murray Elwyn Levins

Murray Elwyn Levins

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Murray Elwyn Levins on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at the age of 71. He was surrounded by his family and friends during his final days at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital.

Murray was born February 14, 1951, in Spirit River, AB. He grew up with his brothers and sister on the farm where he learned the value of hard work early on. He was a loyal friend who would do anything for a buddy. Once you were a friend of Murray's, you were a friend for life.

Murray grew up and moved away from Spirit River to Grande Prairie, AB, where he met his wife, Rita. Soon after they had two children, Robin and Lindsey. As a family they were inseparable. There wasn't a vacation, camping trip, river boat ride, or snowmobiling trip where he wouldn't take his family with him. His family was his most valued possession. His wife, kids, and grandchildren meant more to him than anything else in the world. Murray was a pioneer in many ways during his younger adulthood. He was one of the original River Rats and had a passion for adventure. He wrote in his own high school yearbook that his likes were camping, hunting, swimming, and having a good time. He did all these things throughout his life with vigor and ambition. Murray was always willing to share his wisdom with the younger generations. He would always take the time to teach and explain how to do so many life skills and took pride in passing on his tricks of the trades. He spent the last years of his life enjoying his time on the acreage with his family and grandchildren. Murray was a strong and emotional man who wore his heart on his sleeve. He left his mark on all who crossed his path and will be forever missed by all.

Murray will be lovingly remembered by his wife Rita of 42 years (together 46); children: Robin (Pamela), and Lindsey (Justin); grandchildren: Liam, Levi, Matthew, and Riley; brothers: Blake and Norman; along with countless more extended family and friends.

Murray was predeceased by his parents Leslie and Francis, and sister Merle.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at 3:00 pm at the Lewis/Levins Acreage. (Lot 9, 53054 TWP RD 712. County of Grande Prairie No.1.) Dress appropriately for outdoor weather conditions.
