Obituary For Mildred Louise Aley

It is with great sadness, that the family of Mildred Louise Aley, announces her peaceful passing on Monday, September 19, 2022, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, at the age of 93 years.

Mildred was born on June 21, 1929, in Lacombe, AB, and at a young age, the family moved to Big Meadows, near High Prairie, AB. It was there that Mildred met Bill Aley, and after a short courtship they were married and settled on the Aley farm in Belloy, AB. In more recent years Mildred lived in Pioneer Lodge in Grande Prairie, AB.

Mildred is probably best known in the community as the “mail lady”, a job she both enjoyed and took great pride in. She had many interests; she loved the outdoors and was a devoted community member. There was always room at the table for another person, and the coffee was ready any time of the day.

She leaves to mourn her children: Marilyn Foster (Marv), Mavis Aley (Colin), Rick Aley, and Maureen Durda (Don); her grandchildren: Roger Foster (Megan), Tamara Foster (Duncan), Ian Roberts (Sarah), Brandon Aley (Candace), Kristin Lizotte (Robbin), Colten Doll, and Karter Doll (Tomara); as well as twelve great-grandchildren.

Mildred was predeceased by her husband Bill; son in-law Len Foster; as well as granddaughter Daylene Doll.

The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to Dr. Van Der Merwe, the staff at Pioneer Lodge, and the nurses of Unit 23 at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital.

A Celebration of Life will be held at on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at 2:00pm, at Wanham COCO hall.

In memory of Mildred, memorial donations may be made to Birch Hills Senior Centre in Wanham (4902 50 St., Wanham, AB, T0H 3P0), or to the Grande Spirit Foundation - Pioneer Lodge (9505 102 Ave., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 7G9).
