We offer families the opportunity to prepare and submit obituary notices written in their own words. We believe this allows each tribute to authentically reflect the life and legacy of the individual. To honour each tribute, obituaries are published as approved by the family.

Obituary For Michael "Mike" Purzyski

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Mike Purzyski, who slipped away quietly on February 17, 2026, at the age of 60. His sudden loss has left a deep emptiness in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Mike came into this world on October 27, 1965, in Edmonton, AB, to parents Tony and Margaret Purzyski. In 1985 he moved to Grande Prairie, where he met his business partner and best friend, Robert. Their friendship of 40 years was built on loyalty, trust, and countless shared memories that will never be forgotten.

Mike enjoyed many hobbies and took great joy in sharing them with others. He found peace and happiness in the outdoors. Some of his most treasured moments were the times he spent training with his friend and teammate, Lucas; camping with Andre at Cadomin; motocross racing with Aaron; along with shooting and boating on the lake with Darlene. He told so many stories, and now your stories keep his memory alive.

Mike’s kindness wasn’t loud or showy; it was steady, sincere, and constant. He was the kind of person who would always lend a hand, offer support, and show kindness to those around him. His generosity, strength, and caring nature touched many lives.

Mike had a big heart, big enough to hold many close. Tony and Margaret, Chris and Rob, Kayla, Dylan, and Greg, Dave and Nicole: his family that he treasured. Robert, Marisa, Lucas, Andre, and Aaron: he cherished their friendships. Asia, Aero, and Taffy: his heart was with them, too.

Above all, Mike shared a special bond with his girlfriend, Darlene, whose love and companionship meant so much to him. Together they shared a life of friendship, quiet joys, shared laughter, and unwavering support for each other. These precious moments will be remembered always. He is missed beyond words.

Although Mike’s life has ended, hold Mike in your heart, share stories, and remember the jokes, his magic tricks, and the strength, loyalty, and love he brought into everyone’s lives. The memories he created will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Rest in the peace you so richly deserve.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital. Darlene will be forever grateful for these special people: Connie, Robert and Mel, Lucas, Nancy and Jack, Dave and Nicole, and Wanda and Shawn. Thank you for being there.

Mike loved sitting around the outdoor fire, having a drink, and spending time with his friends. The fire will be started again to honour Mike on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at his home. Everyone is welcome to drop by!

“Wait for me at the lake. I will find you; I always do.” – Mike
