Obituary For Merna Morgan

Merna Morgan (née Ford), resident of Sexsmith, AB, passed away suddenly on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital at the age of 87 years.

Merna was born on May 16, 1938, and was raised in Wembley, AB. She lived there until her marriage to Henry in December 1957. Henry and Merna started their life together in Woking before purchasing a farm east of Sexsmith. In 1977, they sold the farm and moved to Sexsmith. Merna lived there until Henry’s passing in 2023, after which she relocated to Clairmont.

Merna worked at Warrington’s Jewellers for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed quilting, crafting, reading, and gardening. She especially loved her many spoiled dogs.

She will be sadly missed by her children, Harry (Mavis) Morgan, Sandy (Steve) Baron, and Allan (Dolores) Morgan. Grandma will be missed by her grandchildren, Donald Morgan, Crystal Morgan (Chris Hansen), Cherie Morgan, Lauren (Hari) Hullur, Garrett (Aly Griko) Baron, Jessica (Robert) Nooy, and Sean (Kayla Duheme) Pollon. Great-Grandma will be missed by Austyn (Daphne Luscombe) Hansen, Evyn (Jackson Bondaruk) Hansen, Penelope Nooy, and Miles Nooy. Merna will also be missed by her sister-in-law, Elna Eidsvik, and her family.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Henry, and her parents, Elmer and Irene Ford.

Merna’s memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave). Following the service, friends are invited to join the family for a luncheon in Oliver’s Tea Room. A private interment for family will be held at a later date at the Emerson Trail Cemetery.
