It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dad Merlin in hospital, on October 17, 2023, at the age of 84 with his loving family at his side.

He bravely battled through some serious health complications in recent months but in the end his heart was just too tired.

Merlin will be lovingly remembered by his son Philip (Helen); daughters Cheryl (Jesse) Sheppard and Elaine (Rod) Perreault; sister Lenore Jones (Bevan); as well as his 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren who were the light of his life.

He was predeceased by his wife Marina in 2006; son Laurie in 2021; parents Alf and Agnes Olson; sisters Phyllis Olson and Joyce Nesvog; as well as brother Gordon.

Dad was born in Camrose, AB, on July 3, 1939. He spent most of his life in British Columbia where he worked at several furniture stores across the province as a salesman and manager. He and Marina eventually settled in Grande Prairie in 2002.

Dad was the biggest Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays fan, and he never missed a game. We hope his beloved Leafs win the Stanley Cup for him this year.

Rest in peace Dad, you were ‘Top of the line’ and will be greatly missed by us all.
