Obituary For Maureen Patterson (nee Dean)

Maureen Patterson, resident of Grande Cache, AB, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, with Tracey, Tony, Alan, and granddaughter Taylor by her side, at the age of 79 years.

Maureen Patterson was born on May 14, 1943, in Dilston, Northumberland, England. Maureen grew up with 7 brothers and sisters: Helen, Margaret, Iris, Irene, Ron, Jimmy, and Tom; they lived in Bedlington, Northumberland. Maureen did her schooling in Bedlington until 1959. After leaving school she went to work at “Town Tailors” as a seamstress.

She met Charles in 1961, and they married on March 14, 1962. They had five children: sons Charles, Alan, Tony, and Shaun, as well as daughter Tracey. In 1979, they all emigrated to Canada making Grande Cache their home, following her life long friend Doreen, now her sister in-law.

In 1980, Maureen found the work she loved at the Grande Cache Hospital. She worked there for 23 years until retirement in 2003. She made many life long friends with fellow workers, staff, and many town residents - especially Heather Drummond and her daughter Daniel, who became very close friends of Maureen and Charles.

Maureen was predeceased by her dad Thomas Brown; mother Violet Brown; husband Charles; sister Margaret; brothers Ron, Jimmy, and Tom.
