Obituary For Maureen Ann Kennedy
With deep sorrow we share the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend.
Maureen Ann Kennedy, long term resident of Grande Prairie, passed away at Edson Hospital on July 1, 2025. Maureen was born on November 27, 1965, in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan to Bill and Margaret Kennedy.
In her early years, Maureen was a long-haul truck driver which took her many places from Mexico to the United States of America. She brought back many trinkets from Route 66 to share with everyone. Maureen had a deep love for animals, especially her dog Lafin and cat Mugzy.
Maureen’s greatest accomplishment was her son Darcy; he was her pride and joy. The love she had for Darcy was fierce, loyal and unconditional. Darcy gave Maureen the most precious gift of her three grandchildren: Ivy, Jacob, and June.
Maureen was fiercely independent. Her long battle with multiple sclerosis (MS) was met with strength and determination. Her strength taught us many life lessons that we will forever cherish.
The love she showed to her family and friends is irreplaceable. She was our biggest cheerleader, a true warrior, our hero, and Rock.
She was predeceased by her father Bill Kennedy.
She will be deeply missed by her mother Margaret Kennedy; son Darcy Kennedy; grandchildren Ivy, Jacob, and June; sisters Heather Tomshak (Tyler), Linda( Ray) Jacob, and Bonnie Kennedy. Also missed by her nephews and nieces: Tina, Ryan, Bryan, Daylan, Shane, Chelsea, Jarrett, Brad, Austin, Annalea, Kaleb, Rylan, Lincoln, Jaxon, Cruz, and longtime friend Kiran.
We would like to express a special thank you to all the people who helped Maureen navigate through her journey. Please continue with your small acts of kindness.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Maureen will be sadly missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

I'm sorry to hear of Maureen's passing! Our paths crossed a few times in my career and one of my favourite times was with Lafin. His leash, her wheels, a stray cat, my toes... all connecting. We had some great laughs and I was sorry to see her move to Edson. My sincere condolences to her family, she loved you whole heartedly.

I am saddened by the loss of Maureen, whom I got to know at Edson Long-Term Care Centre. I enjoyed getting to know Maureen and hearing stories about her interesting life. Though my time with her feels too short, I am glad I met her and happy to have called her my friend. My condolences to Maureen's family and friends.

Dear Margaret and Family, It saddens us to know Maureen has passed. She was a sweet child, and as her photo shows, she matured into a very beautiful woman. We hope you will be strengthened by your memories and sharings in the time ahead. Sincerely, Dennis & Corinne
