Obituary For Mary Elaine Chipman

Mary Elaine Chipman, resident of Grande Prairie, Alberta, formerly of Spaniards Bay, NFLD, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at Grande Prairie at the age of 77 years.

Mary was born on September 24, 1947, at Spaniards Bay, NFLD. She completed high school at Ascension Collegiate. She worked at various sales-related positions in the area. Mary moved to Yellowknife with her husband Bill, son Todd and daughter Kelly in 1984. She retired from Yellowknife in 2008, moved back to NFLD for a couple of years and then made the decision to relocate to Grande Prairie where she lived with her family.

She had a very straight forward personality, she called a spade a spade, loved a game of cards, and was an avid crocheter in her younger years. Mary loved music (especially her husbands). She endured many medical issues throughout her life, she survived it all, but cancer took its toll on her. She loved babies and would always stop to say hello to people passing in the mall or Walmart or on the street to acknowledge little babies and children.

She was a beautiful person, gone too soon, Rest in Peace.

She will be sadly missed by her husband Bill Chipman, her children: Todd (Chloe) Chipman, Kelly Chipman. Grandchildren; Kalina, Kory, Ryan, David, and Mitchell. Great grandchildren Logan, Lily and Rowan. She is survived by her sister Beatrice, brother Harry (Michelle), sisters Daisy (Phil), Brenda (Gary) and brothers-in-laws Wayne (Bev) and Rod (Edna) Chipman.

She is predeceased by her parents Lincoln and Dorothy Gosse, parents-in-law Nathaniel and Naida Chipman, sister Hazel (Israel) Smith, brother-in-law Ed Smith and brother Wayne.

The Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 21 at 2:00 pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home (10005 107 Ave) Grande Prairie, Alberta
