We offer families the opportunity to prepare and submit obituary notices written in their own words. We believe this allows each tribute to authentically reflect the life and legacy of the individual. To honour each tribute, obituaries are published as approved by the family.

Obituary For Marty Siemens
Marty (Marten) Siemens went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Friday, October 2, 2026. He was born on December 14, 1964, at home in La Crete, Alberta, to Henry and Justine Siemens.
Marty spent his childhood years in La Crete, where he attended the local school, enjoyed sports, and helped on the family farm. From a young age, he developed the strong work ethic, love of adventure, and passion for the outdoors that would remain with him throughout his life.
Driving truck was in Marty’s blood. As a young adult, he began driving log trucks, picker trucks, and gravel trucks. He later joined his cousin, moving mobile homes throughout Western Canada, the Northwest Territories, and Alaska. During this time, Marty also began elk farming, which he loved. In 2005, he started Markey Enterprise, continuing a career that he truly enjoyed.
On January 27, 2001, Marty married Judith and wholeheartedly embraced his role as a father to four children. Two years later, they welcomed their fifth child, completing their family. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, hard work, and adventure. The years that followed were filled with skiing, snowmobiling, farm life, and countless memories made.
Marty was a devoted Christian whose faith guided him throughout his life. He had a warm and welcoming nature, never staying a stranger for long. Whether visiting with friends or striking up a conversation with someone new, Marty genuinely enjoyed being around people. His kindness, gentle heart, and ability to make others feel welcome will be remembered by everyone whose life he touched.
The outdoors was one of Marty’s greatest passions. Many weekends were spent snowmobiling in the mountains with friends, exploring trails he knew like the back of his hand. During Marty’s free time if he was not snowmobiling, he could be found hunting, quadding, or working on his next project. In his later years, he discovered a love for flying and spent countless hours working on and flying aircraft. Most recently, he enjoyed restoring and maintaining his Quasar and Cessna 172.
More than anything, Marty cherished his family. He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his wife, Judith; his children, Colby, Daryce, Tayen, and Jet; his daughters-in-law, Alissa Tissington and Naomi; and his beloved grandchildren, Theodora and Oliver. He is also survived by his siblings, Bill and Helen Siemens, Mark and Tina Miller, Dave and Susan Siemens, Tom and Susie Driedger, Chris and Isaac Goertzen, and Rudy and Doreen Neufeld, as well as extended family and friends.
Marty was predeceased by his son, Schyler, and by his parents, Henry and Justine.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Grande Prairie Alliance Church (15502-102 St), followed by a luncheon. Afterward, interment will take place at the Grande Prairie Cemetery (84 Ave & 112 St).
While his family mourns their loss, they find comfort in knowing Marty is home with his Lord and Saviour. His legacy of faith, love, hard work, friendship, and adventure will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
