Marlene Rosemarie Laliberte, resident of Grande Prairie, Alberta, and formerly of Midale, Saskatchewan, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital at the age of 88 years.

Born on December 11, 1937, Marlene was raised on a farm in Midale, Saskatchewan. She attended school in Midale and graduated with her Grade 12 diploma. During her time in High Level, Alberta, she opened and managed a fabric store. It was frequented by many seamstresses and offered varied products, including home creations. In 1988, she moved to Grande Prairie. There, she worked in a couple different positions for Menzies Printers until retirement.

With a soft voice and a big heart, Marlene was quite stubborn, authoritative in a good way, and a bit of a jokester. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, and dancing. She loved campfires, camping, gardening, and tending to her plants.

Marlene will be sadly missed by her husband, Normand Laliberte; her children, Garnet Tomke (Marty Doeksen), Allan (Jody) Tomke, and Melanie (Evan) Binks; her daughter-in-law, Lana (Wilf) Lehners; her son-in-law, Dan Walter; her stepchildren, Ninette Laliberte and Arland Laliberte; her grandchildren, Jaeden Price (née Binks), Madisyn Binks (Shawn Randle), Christian Binks, Brodi Tallman, Jenna Gelowitz (née Tomke), Colin Walter (Rebecca), Rachelle Walter, Hunter Tomke, Chance Tomke, Cody Tomke (Anna), Cheryl Blyth, Johann Wiens, and Rachel Wiens; her step-grandchildren, Anna Flette, Michelle Flette, Darby Laliberte, and Cody Flynn (Janell); her great-grandchildren, Rowan Price, Brynn Price, Teddy Tomke, Savanna Tomke, Presley Tomke, Ryden Walter, Oakland Walter, Maddox Gelowitz, Abigail Blyth, Greyson Blyth, Luna Wiens, and Theo Wiens; and her sister, Lillian Heibein, of Weyburn, Saskatchewan, who is 100 years old. Marlene will also be missed by nieces and nephews too many to mention.

She was predeceased by her parents, Edwin John Meyers and Elizabeth Donalda Meyers (née Beaudria); her children, Cheryl Walter (wife of Dan Walter) and Blair Tomke; her brothers, Lesly (Helen) Meyers, Donald (Myrtle) Meyers, Ervin (Delois) Meyers, and Arnold (Byrdine) Meyers; her sister, Vernice (Harvey) Walker; her brother-in-law, John Heibein (husband of Lillian Heibein); and her sister-in-law, Edna (Lloyd) Spicer.
