Obituary For Marion Isabel Biron

Marion Isabel Biron, a resident of Grande Prairie, Alberta, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at the age of 84 years, after a short illness.

Marion was born on July 9, 1941, in Meaford, Ontario. She was the oldest daughter of five girls.

Marion worked many jobs throughout her lifetime, most recently with the County of Grande Prairie, as well as driving and dispatching for the Disabled Transportation Society.

She married André Biron on October 10, 1959. Marion spent her life in the Grande Prairie area and greatly enjoyed camping. Every year, the family went on adventures, usually with Ron and Pat Martin and their family. After many years, Walter and Minnie Head offered a space on their land where the family was able to build their own campsite. Many summers were spent there, creating treasured memories.

Rudy and Jean Meinecke were also lifelong friends. One especially memorable adventure was the infamous motorhome trip to Alaska, “What happens in Alaska stays in Alaska,” they would say. It was clear that Mom and Dad had a wonderful time on that journey.

Marion was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion and participated in many activities, including card nights and Friday night meat draws. She had a great many friends whom she cherished deeply.

Marion is survived by her daughter, Tracy (Bruce) Hartman; granddaughter Hannah Hartman; grandson Dylan Hartman; special friend Dave Godin; sister Donna Laughey; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Marion was predeceased by her husband André Biron in 2001; her son Michael in 2023; her mother Isabel in 1999; her father Clarence in 1990; her sister Shirley Lindblom in 1987 and brother-in-law Marvin Lindblom in 1996; her sister Diane Jackson and brother-in-law Norman Jackson, both in 2025; her sister Ruby Chesla and brother-in-law Ted Chesla, both in 2023.

A memorial service will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sargent Family Kidney Care Center (https://gphospitalfoundation.ca/campaigns/kidney-care-centre/) or to a foundation of your choice.
