We offer families the opportunity to prepare and submit obituary notices written in their own words. We believe this allows each tribute to authentically reflect the life and legacy of the individual. To honour each tribute, obituaries are published as approved by the family.

Obituary For Marie Anne Guest

It is with love and gratitude that the family of Marie Anne Guest announces her peaceful passing on Sunday, May 31, 2026, in Grande Prairie, Alberta, at the age of 79.

While we mourn her loss, we celebrate her qualities of faith, resilience, and independence that would define her life. Her legacy lives on through her family, who have learned through her that circumstances we start out with do not limit who or what we can become.

Marie was passionate about serving others. She volunteered with the Young Parents Society, quietly supported many charitable causes, and was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Her Catholic faith guided her life and inspired her compassion, generosity, and service.

Marie is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Debbie Mathias, grandchildren Kira Borman (Kyle) and Haylee Mathias (Adam Dennis), and great-granddaughters Lexy Borman and Natalie Borman; her son, Tim Guest (Matthew), and grandchild Gideon Okyere; her daughter, Tracey Grattan (Cory), grandson Tyler Grattan (Emma), and great-granddaughter Alora Grattan; her siblings, Fred Fisher (Angela) and Linda Gordon; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Marie was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Denise Fisher; her beloved grandson, Brady, who tragically lost his life at a young age; her sister, Denise; cousin Father Alex Carrier, OMI; former husband, Peter Guest; her adored furry companion, Frankie; and numerous cherished aunts, uncles, and extended family members.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grande Prairie (10404-102 St.), preceded by a viewing from 1:15 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Following the Mass, a gathering will take place at 3:00 p.m. in Tranquille Hall at the church for refreshments and a light lunch.

For those unable to attend who wish to be part of the service, the livestreaming link will be available shortly before the Mass begins.

Family and close friends are invited to the interment, which will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Cemetery in High Prairie, Alberta (55.44046, -116.49002).

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the caregivers and medical staff who provided Marie with compassionate care throughout her courageous battle with cancer.

In memory of Marie, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

May she rest in peace.

While every effort is made to ensure a smooth livestream, technical or broadcast issues may occasionally occur beyond the control of Oliver’s Funeral Home.
