Obituary For Maria Wiebe Bartsch Guenther
Maria Guenther, resident of Grande Prairie, formerly of Vulcan, AB, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at the QEII Hospital, at the age of 47 years.
Maria, who preferred being called “Mary”, was born in Mexico on February 12, 1972. She moved to Canada with her family at the age of 18. She met her husband Peter in April 1997 and they were married in December 1997. She was raising four amazing children and, some would say, one stubborn husband, when she passed. She loved her husband and children with a passion, and it was her goal that they have the best life possible.
She loved collecting porcelain dolls and angel figurines. She loved flowers and the time she spent with her kids picking them out and planting them.
Mary will be sadly missed by her husband Peter; children: Anthony, Victoria, Cassidy, and Austin; her mom, four brothers, five sisters, mother and father in-law, two brothers in-law, one sister in-law, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father on August 15, 2019.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2019, at 11:00am, at Grande Prairie Alliance Church (15502 102 St.). A Viewing will be held prior at 10:00am.
Memorial donations may be made to Faith in Deed Ministry c/o Grande Prairie Alliance Church (15502 102 St., Grande Prairie, AB, T8X 0J6).

I have many fond memories of Auntie Mary, but one of my all time favourites was when you would babysit us and we would pick ice cream pails full of blueberries with the sole purpose of seeing all of the things Auntie Mary could do with them. She always made the best pies, breakfasts, and desserts with what we would bring her or what we would pick together. ♡

One memory that sticks out for me is one from a wedding many years ago. There were a bunch of us sitting at a table when the song "My Maria" came on by Brooks and Dunn. I remember Peter taking Mary's hand and they walked to the dance floor. As they danced, I remember watching them and thinking, "Wow, look at those two. I sure hope I find a love like that one day". 💕 It has been many years since I have seen Peter or Mary but I sure think of "back in the day" often. I hope the family finds strength and comfort in the many stories to be told in the coming days. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

We are so sorry to here of Mary's passing. She was always so kind and up for a chat at the rink - one of the friendly faces I met when we moved to Grande Prairie in 2013. I was fortunate to catch up with her in Edmonton in 2017 and enjoyed our visit. She was so proud of her family and her love for you all was apparent in every conversation. Whether talking about figure skating or speed skating, who was starting to drive, how school was going or worrying about Peter driving on the ice roads, there was no question her family was her #1 passion and priority. You are in our thoughts and prayers as you navigate the world without one of your staunchest supporters. Barb, Terry, Jade, Jasmine & Jared Belisle

We were saddened to hear of your mothers recent passing. Your mother tackled her illness with great strength all those years. She enjoyed ever minute watching you girls skate. Know that your skating brought a lot of happiness to your mother. Nathalie, Cassidy and Lorilee Rheaume
