Obituary For Margaret Corrado

Margaret Corrado, resident of Whitecourt, Alberta, formerly of Grande Prairie passed away on Friday, July 4, 2025, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital at the age of 91 years.

Margaret was born in Meduno, Italy on November 24, 1933. Her mother passed away when she was 16. Her paternal aunt Rose filled in as best she could to help the family after her mother’s death. Along with her older sister Anna, and brother Ettore (Hector) they lived through the Second World War. She often spoke of her experiences during those times and felt that their love of family and deep faith in God was the only thing that got them through.

She married her sweetheart Romano whom she had known for over 10 years in 1964. She had a child in 1965 and remained in the family home to nurse her aging father until his passing in 1966. By then both her sister Anna and brother Hector had immigrated to Canada. In 1970 during a family holiday to visit her sister in Toronto and brother in Grande Prairie they decided to make Grande Prairie home. In 1992 she relocated to Whitecourt Alberta.

Margaret enjoyed sewing, needlework, her pet Irish Setters and most of all visiting and cooking for her family. She had a wicked sense of humor and a belief that cleanliness was next to godliness. Her door was always open, and she shared her catholic faith with any and all who would listen. She did not fear death and spoke openly and freely of her desire for everlasting life. For her, death was a passage and a journey which would take her to a final union with Christ and her family that had passed before her.

She will be deeply missed by her husband Romano, Son Angelo (Hyunjong Yi), Irish Setter Argo, and numerous nieces and nephews in Alberta and Ontario. She will also be missed by many dear friends in Canada and Italy.

She was predeceased by her mother Domenica in 1949, Aunt Rose in 1960, her father Pietro in 1966, brother Ettore (Hector) in 1988, and her sister Anna in 2012.

A Traditional Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at 11:00 am at Oliver’s Funeral Home (10005 107 Ave, Grande Prairie). Luncheon to follow.

Memorial Donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation Alberta www.heartandstroke.ca/

A recording of the Funeral Service will be available after the Service.
