Obituary For Margaret Christensen Barbarich
Margaret Barbarich, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton, at the age of 80 years.
She was born on April 12, 1935 in Wanham, AB, where she grew up and attended school. After graduating from high school, Margaret went to work at the Royal Bank in Grande Prairie. She loved to skate, ski and play ball on the Wanham ball team in her younger years.
Margaret married Marco Barbarich on June 22, 1970, then moved to Rycroft where they farmed for many years. She worked at the Treasury Branch, Barry’s Grocery Store, and the Village of Rycroft office as a secretary. In 1997 they moved to Grande Prairie where she resided until the time of her passing.
Margaret was a loving wife, a caring neighbor and friend and always looked out for everyone else. She was an excellent cook and homemaker. Margaret will be sincerely remembered for her compassion, kind heart, caring and concern for others.
Margaret’s passion was beautiful flowers and gardening; her begonia’s were envied by all. She took pride in her yard and was adamant that the snow was shoveled off the driveway in the winter time. Margaret was a strong willed, hard working person and was always up before the birds in the morning.
Margaret Barbarich’s memory will be forever treasured by all those she loved. She will be sadly missed by her husband, Marco of 45 years; brother John Christensen (Elly); a very special family, Tom and Anna Thomas and their family: son Jason (Tina) and their children Asha and Joel); daughter Rekha and son Reji. Margaret will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents Esther and Lusco Christensen and Nick and Barbara Barbarich.
A Viewing will be held on Monday, July 27, 2015 at 7:00pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).
The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 2:00pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home.
