Obituary For Malcolm Douglas Cook

Malcolm Cook, resident of Sexsmith, AB, passed away on August 4, 2025, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, at the age of 62 years.

He was born on May 30, 1963, in Edmonton, AB, and spent his early years living in Northern Alberta. Later on, his family moved back to the Edmonton area. Malcolm completed a forestry tech degree through NAIT and from there, moved into oilfield quality control and inspection services.

Malcolm had a great sense of humor, a thirst for knowledge, and loved to serve as a mentor to support others in fulfilling their dreams. He had many interests, from motorcycling to geology to reading. He loved gold panning, history, space exploration—anything that involved friends and a good time.

He will be sadly missed by his love and best friend, Melanie Evans; niece, Kayla Cook; brother-in-law, Shane Evans; nephews, Andrew (Coby) Evans and Lucas (Ashley) Evans; parents, Jim and Dina Evans; and all those who called Malcolm their friend.

He was predeceased by Douglas Cook; his mother, Dona Campbell; “Mum” Della (Mac) McIntosh; nephew Jacob Cook; and sister-in-law Lavonne Evans.

A celebration of Malcolm’s life will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the Elk’s Legion Hall in Sexsmith (9917 99 Ave, Sexsmith).
