We offer families the opportunity to prepare and submit obituary notices written in their own words. We believe this allows each tribute to authentically reflect the life and legacy of the individual. To honour each tribute, obituaries are published as approved by the family.

Obituary For Lyle Bradley Morrison
Lyle Bradley Morrison was born on December 16, 1960, in Grande Prairie, Alberta, and passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the age of 65 years.
Lyle was born to parents Donald and Katherine Morrison. He was the fourth boy and sixth child in what would become a family of eight children (four boys and four girls).
Lyle was resourceful and had a lifelong love of hunting and fishing. He would go out and get food for the family once he was old enough to do so. One time he even brought home a moose that had to be cut up in the living room because it was the only place in their small home. He was popular and had many friends that he spent a lot of time with, getting into various shenanigans as a young boy and teenager.
In 1982, Lyle married Denny (née Walker), and in 1985 they welcomed their first daughter, Andrea Marie. Three years later they were blessed with their second daughter, Jody Katherine. They spent the girls’ younger years taking a lot of camping, hunting and fishing trips. A favourite trip of theirs was going to Jasper and Miette Hot Springs. Their marriage did not last, but they were both very grateful for their daughters.
Lyle spent most of his life living in Grande Prairie and worked a variety of jobs at places like Canfor and CN Rail. He was good with his hands and a hard worker who enjoyed putting in a long day’s work or a long shift out in the bush.
He was a great storyteller and had friends from all walks of life. He enjoyed listening to Dwight Yoakam, drinking coffee (with at least six sugars), reading western novels and going out for meals.
Lyle was well-known in treatment facilities and meeting circles in Grande Prairie. When he was in a good place himself, he helped a lot of other people who suffered from substance abuse issues or other problems. He gave people hope and encouragement for how their lives could change, and others enjoyed listening to him talk and hearing his stories. We were all so proud of Lyle for the years he spent sober and living a happy and productive life.
In 2016 Lyle was delighted to become a grandfather to his only grandchild, Keegan. Keegan took after his grandpa with a head of bright red hair and freckles.
Lyle unfortunately fell back on some hard times later in life and spent the last few years of his life living in supportive housing at The Mustard Seed. He was comfortable there and met many good friends.
After spending some time with unknown but serious illnesses, Lyle was recently hospitalized before his passing.
Lyle was predeceased by his mother, Katherine; father Donald; brother Craig Morrison; and nephew Dwayne Morrison.
Left behind to mourn his passing are daughter, Andrea (Vance Smith) Morrison and grandson Keegan of Mackenzie, BC; daughter Jody (Andrew Dube) Morrison of Calgary, AB; brother Grant (Cheryl) Morrison; brother Brian Morrison; sister Gail (David) Keown; sister Beverly (John) Craig; sister Sherry (Wayne) Brooke; and sister Donna (Tim) Boyne; along with numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and close friends.
A memorial service will be held for Lyle at 1:00 pm on Friday, July 24, 2026, at The Oasis Church Grande Prairie (10126 101 Ave). Fellowship and refreshments to follow. All friends and family who wish to pay their respects are welcome.
